Emerson's Child

It has been almost 2 weeks since the presidential election. In this election there were two candidates who you could say not a lot of people were very pleased about. But we still had to pick a new president for our country and for our future. The two candidates were Hillary Clinton (democrat) and Donald Trump (republican). To many peoples' shock, Donald Trump won the election. He will be our next president starting in January.
I believe that Emerson's thought on the election would almost be a positive one. He probably wouldn't of liked what the presidential candidates were saying. But Emerson would've liked that they were being themselves. He was a big believer on people being themselves and not straying from it. Emerson wanted people to be their true selves and show the whole world that.                        The republican candidate (Donald Trump) would, in my opinion, be Emerson's favorite. Donald Trump may say a lot of things that many people might not practically like, but that is the reason that he, again my opinion, is Emerson's favorite. Donald is being himself. He doesn't really care how other people think of him. Emerson loves when people are themselves. He even wrote a whole essay about it.
I believe that Emerson would want us to move on by telling us that it would be great to be lead by a person who is true to themselves. A lot of the previous presidents have usually tried to speak out as themselves, but typically strayed away from it for fear of the rejection of the people. Many people wouldn't of agreed with Emerson at this point. They'd believe that the only way to move forward would be to get another president. As you can see on the news, many people typically have the same idea.
Overall, I believe that Emerson would've been satisfied with how the presidential election turned out. He, in my opinion, would've seen the bright side about having a president who speaks his mind. I, on the other hand, only see the negatives. For example, lets say our new president accidently says something to another country that deeply upsets them. That could cause World War 3. Which is always a deep concern of mine.
